Fresh off his 3 recent live albums Immanuel Wilkins Quartet: Live At The Village Vanguard Vol. 1-3, his sixth blue note release at the age of 28, Immanuel Wilkins is shaping a sound that’s been moving through New York and the world with unrelenting momentum.
Early mentorship from Ambrose Akinmusire and touring with Jason Moran put him in the middle of major bandstand situations early on, and since then, he’s worked with artists like Solange, Wynton Marsalis, Gretchen Parlato, Gerald Clayton, Aaron Parks, and Joel Ross, always bringing a clear voice and a strong sense of direction to every set.
His bandmates form a tightly knit unit, and years of history playing together, make for almost telepathic communication on the stage.
