Award-winning jazz vocalist, guitarist, songwriter, and bandleader Allan Harris will be in concert celebrating the CD release of his new album, Swingin’ Love Songs. A Brooklyn-born, Harlem-based master of the genre, Harris brings this landmark performance to The Pocket. The upcoming album, arriving August 28, 2026, is a collection of nine swinging jazz ballads written in the tradition of the Great American Songbook by a composer who left us too soon. Recorded more than 20 years ago and only recently rediscovered, these are love songs the world almost never heard.
Harris has spent decades perfecting his craft and winning the accolades to prove it, including being named a two-time Hot House Jazz Magazine “Best Male Jazz Vocalist,” earning Back Stage’s “Ongoing Achievement in Jazz,” the New York Nightlife Award for “Outstanding Jazz Vocalist,” and the DownBeat Critic’s Poll “Rising Star Vocalist” award. Beyond his recordings, Harris has brought jazz storytelling to the stage with Cross That River, a critically acclaimed jazz-inflected musical tracing the journey of Blue, a Black cowboy whose story stretches from the antebellum South to the wide-open West.
